All Abby

Grandma Cathy and Grandpa Bill watched both girls last week so Josh and I could go out for dinner. When we came home, Grandpa and Abby were snuggled up like this, and Abby was sound asleep.

Hints of a smile. It's been hard to capture her little smiles on camera.

Sleeping in her bassinet next to our bed.

Nursery Tour

The nursery is finally decorated. My sister bought us the cute wall stickers, and I splurged and bought some of the expensive photos of Abby taken in the hospital, when she was just 24 hours old. She doesn't sleep in her room yet (she sleeps in her Arm's Reach Co-sleeper Bassinet in our bedroom), but the changing table sees a lot of action.

Rocking chair with doll from Grandma and Grandpa (my parents).

Cat-in-the-Box

What is a cat to do when her owner gets a new video game system? Sleep in the box, of course.

What we've been up to this past month

Holiday Fun

I left Abby and Josh to hang out at home last week while Megan and I enjoyed holiday activities for preschoolers through our school district. Megan is nervous around costumed characters, and this was as close as she would get to Santa.

But she wasn't so fearful of Mrs. Claus, especially with her friend right next to her.

Megan and her friend participating in the book walk. Megan's friend won a book ... although it was in Spanish.

Decorating and eating a Christmas cookie!

Megan liked playing with the "snowman" with Mr. Potato Head pieces.

Megan decorated a Christmas tree with bingo stampers.

One of the last activities of the evening: making a reindeer hat.

Welcome, Abigail Grace

It's been a bit since I've posted, but I'd like to introduce the newest member of our family. Abigail was born October 27 at 7:26 a.m. weighing 8 pounds, 4 ounces. We are all doing well and adjusting to life as a family of four.

Pumpkin play date

Megan has become great friends with a little girl who lives a few blocks from us, and this morning, we all went together to a local pumpkin patch for some fun. My camera batteries died unexpectedly, or I would have taken even more photos. I still got some good ones, though. I got Megan to pause for a few seconds for this picture just outside a big straw maze.

She likes to "feed" animals at petting zoos. I think the pigs were mostly gnawing on the straw she kept shoving at their mouths and weren't really eating it. They also had ponies, cows, donkeys, goats, sheep, chickens, and kittens.

The big sandboxes filled with corn are one of the highlights of this particular pumpkin patch.

It's always fun to jump in the corn!

The tractors took some real effort to pedal.

I tried to shake Megan down after playing in the corn, and we dumped lots out of her shoes, but when we got home I still emptied a good-sized handful of corn out of her underwear.

Another action shot as she jumps into the corn!

Megan and friends on one of the giant tire swings! The girls sat in this swing for probably a good half hour while I twisted the swing up and let it unwind. This place also had slides made of corrugated plastic tunnels/tubing, horse swings made out of tires, a wooden fort maze, and lots of pumpkins to look at. We are slated to return here with some other friends in a few weeks, as long as baby girl #2 doesn't arrive before then, so more pictures may be coming ...
